CROOKWOOD LAKE
Crookwood Lake sits on
a 6 acre site located in a quiet picturesque secluded valley on
the outskirts of Devizes Town, near the village of Urchfont.
The lake is accessed from the country lane between Urchfont and
Potterne Wick, turning off the road beside Crookwood farm next to the
railway bridge.Drive over the cattle grids to the bottom of the track
and you enter the car park beside the Lake.
The car park has space for around 30 cars.
Other facilities include an on site toilet and a grassed area with some
picnic benches.
On entering the Lake you will find two dip tanks for disinfecting
your nets, please ensure you use them.
The Lake has an average depth of 6 to 8 feet and has two islands
through the middle of its entire length.
There are 65 permanent platformed pegs, three are suitable for disabled
use.
The Lake is well stocked with a variety of species making this venue an
excellent mixed fishery with many specimen fish. Tench to
5lb , Perch to 2lb and double figure Carp have all been regularly
reported.
Species include Tench, Common Carp, Mirror Carp, Crucian Carp, Bream,
Roach, Rudd, Perch,Gudgeon, Rudd, Orffe, Goldfish ,Chubb,Barbel, Pike.
