Subject: Catch Report

Hi there,
Thought you might like to hear of a fantastic mornings fishing we had on sunday the 13th of July.
We decided to fish the black horse pound as we had fished the lake the previous week and been bothered by rudd all day.
We set up at the town end of the pound opposite the gardens. I started off by feeding 6 large balls of superlake laced with chopped worm and liquidised sweetcorn at 11m.
I fished a worm head over the top on a size 18 to 0.10 and a 0.75gr float.
After 5 mins the float buried and i was playing a nice 4 pound Tench, straight back out and another was on.
Re fed and back over and quickly had another tench and then a quality Bream around 4.5 pounds. I have now been fishing 20 mins and had 3 tench and a bream.
Another 20 mins later and the firsat boat of the day comes through a little early at 6.45am.
After the boat i re fed 8 balls again with worm and corn. What happened next i will remember for a long time.
Between 7am and 9.45ami had 13 Bream from 8oz to 5 pounds all to pole and worm at 11m for a total weight of over 50 pounds consisting of 4 tench 13 bream and bits and a very satisfied new club member.
Oh and my mate had 25 pounds on the next peg so all in all we spent 4 and a half hours fishing and caught over 70 pounds of fish, its just a shame about the boats.

Thanks Devizes AA

Thanks for the report Mark , the Canal is really worth fishing at the moment.
There are also reports of lots of Carp on the pounds below Caen Hill.

TO ALL MEMBERS

For information we have a problem with Fringed Waterlily (Nymphoides peltata) at Crook Wood Lake.

As soon as the weather is warm enough we will have an expert from the E.A. working with us on a chemical programme to eliminate this weed problem. We understand that we will be able to treat 20% of the water at any one time. As soon as we have a time scale for the work etc we will issue a further News Letter.  When this work is completed we will also stock more fish into the Lake. In the mean time fishing remains good at the Lake and members can help when visiting the venue if they would use a hand rake to help keep the swims clear until this work is completed. B.W. has nearly completed the major Lock repair programme in the Town Pounds. . Fish stocks have been retained in the area and moved back into each pound. Fishing should remain good in this area and the Committee will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that this statement is correct.
